MA, LPC, CAADC
Julie is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Michigan and is a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC). She has 22 years of counseling those with Co-occurring Substance Use and Mental Health disorders. Julie served four years on active duty in the U.S. Navy. She has specialized training and a passion to help combat veterans, their families, and others who have experienced trauma and its crippling effects. Julie has been trained to help all ages and backgrounds and has knowledge of a variety of interventions to improve the symptoms of anxiety disorders, anger, mood disorders including depression and bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. She previously held a position as an Adjunct Professor at Saginaw Valley State University teaching Adolescent Psychology and Theories of Personality and provides parenting and family boundaries psychoeducation. She personally has experienced freedom and inner healing through God’s lovingkindness. She completed two years of ministry school with MorningStar School of Ministry in Charlotte, NC, and worked as a singles and evangelism pastor. During this time, she attended a Chaplaincy course in North Carolina and met her husband. This led to her move to Michigan in 2002 where she and her husband have raised a blended family of seven children. She believes that a holistic approach is most effective when combining clinical best practices with spiritual inner healing and prayer support. Julie is excited to bring this holistic faith-based counseling to Saginaw beginning November 2018. The incorporation of faith-based counseling methods is available upon request.
